Brother dreams up fantasies between deep, slow sighs in his bedroom, snoring comfortably into his pillow. Papa's pen scutters across page after page as he's reading, leaving illegible blue marks on every available surface. He mutters to himself at the dining room table, utterly immersed in his work.
Mama devours a book cover to cover in the peace of her bedroom, surrounded by the serenity of quiet, of night.

Not the dead... why on earth would I ever be able to see THEM? The dead are dead... once they're gone they cease to be. Gone. It's not a pretty picture... but it's truth. No one believes me... I'm not sure if it's a lack of credibility in my words or an unwillingness to accept that they WILL be gone. No one will remember them when they're gone. So they cling to this world, hoping for some vague remembrance from their so-called loved ones.
